Earlier this year, United Underwriters (“UUI”) was the victim of a cybersecurity incident. We promptly initiated our incident response processes, which included stopping the activity and initiating a forensic investigation, supported by third-party forensic experts. Following the investigation, we identified that certain files were downloaded by an unauthorized actor. UUI has sent notification letters to those whose personal information was impacted and whose address was on file. Substitute notice is intended to provide the same information included in the notification letters to individuals for whom the company has insufficient or out-of-date contact information.
